[performance form] u pavilion

This u-shaped pavilion performance form uses the design rule of concatenation to create structure and control lighting. Concatenation allows an otherwise unstable module of hinged plates to develop a stable form, employing programmatic features as further structural reinforcements. Window apertures operate under a similar rule of hinged plates for individualized control according to program functions.

The result is three distinct spaces within the pavilion, one of which can also serve as an outdoor space. circulation through the pavilion around the ‘u’ directs the user’s interaction with projects to switch in orientation along with the seating, display, and lighting apertures.
